History : The Wright Flyer I was the first successful powered, controlled, and sustained airplane. It was built and flown by the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, in 1903. This aircraft marked a milestone in aviation history, achieving the first recorded manned flight on December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
