The E-flite® S.E.5a 900mm is a modern take on one of the most iconic British fighter aircraft from World War I. Often referred to as the “Spitfire of World War One,” the SE5 was revered by many pilots as the best British single-seat fighter of its time. Known for its role in regaining and maintaining Allied air superiority in 1917, the SE5 remains one of the most recognizable planes of the era. Over 5,000 units were produced by six different manufacturers.
Inspired by the classic ParkZone model, the E-flite® SE5a 900mm has been reimagined with a new design, offering more scale details, advanced features, and modern technologies that deliver an exceptional flying experience. This model is quick and easy to assemble, bolts and snaps together in no time, and its compact size makes it ideal for storage and transport—perfect for flying at large parks, sports fields, and RC flying fields.
The BNF Basic version comes equipped with advanced AS3X+® technology, which smooths out the effects of wind and turbulence for a more stable flight experience. Additionally, it features optional SAFE® Select technology, providing even more ease of use for pilots. Both versions include Spektrum™ digital, metal-geared servos, a 45A Smart Lite ESC, and a motor that is compatible with 3S and 4S batteries.
E-flite S.E.5a 900mm RC Airplane Overview
The SE5 remains one of the most legendary aircraft from World War I, but it’s not often seen in RC models. The E-flite® SE5a 900mm offers an unmatched combination of scale detail, modern features, and remarkable flight performance that will impress even experienced pilots. It’s capable of flying slow and smooth, mimicking the original scale flying, while also delivering impressive aerobatic capabilities. When you increase the control throws, this model can perform aggressive aerobatics, including snaps, “pop tops,” and more.
Intermediate to advanced pilots will enjoy the versatility of the SE5a, offering both calm, scale-style flying and thrilling, aggressive maneuvers. The model includes a variety of scale details, such as molded ribs, radiator and exhaust detailing, machine guns, a pilot figure with a scarf, and optional-use elastic flying wires. The functional features also include large-scale main wheels and a hidden steerable tailwheel, allowing you to fly on paved, dirt, or grass surfaces with ease.
The wings and struts bolt and snap into place for hassle-free assembly and disassembly, and the compact size makes storage and transport effortless. The E-flite® SE5a also comes with factory-installed, digital, metal-geared servos for smooth, precise control at all speeds, and a Spektrum™ outrunner motor paired with an Avian 45-amp Smart Lite ESC compatible with both 3S and 4S 2200-3200mAh batteries.
The BNF Basic version also includes the Spektrum AR631+ receiver with enhanced AS3X+® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies, further enhancing the flying experience. Both versions come factory-finished in the iconic Royal Flying Corps two-tone livery, complete with roundels.
Skill Level 3 – Experience Required
Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. This PNP version requires more experience and skills to assemble and fly than the BNF Basic version because you will need to install a receiver that does not already include properly tuned AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. You should have the experience and skills necessary to assemble and successfully fly models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.2m, Commander mPd 1.4m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the SE5a 900mm PNP version.
Plug-N-Play Completion Level
The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes out of the box with a factory-installed power system and servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately), plus the transmitter and battery you provide (also sold separately). Simply install the receiver, finish any final assembly, and fly!

The factory-installed Spektrum brushless outrunner motor is 3S and 4S compatible to offer a wide range of “mild to wild” performance – from scale flying and performing basic aerobatics with 3S batteries to unlimited vertical plus unexpected aggressive aerobatic performance with 4S batteries! The convenient top-mounted and magnetically secured hatch makes installing and removing common and popular 2200–3200mAh batteries easy.

Easy Assembly
No glue or special tools are required for final assembly so you can have the SE5a 900mm ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! And although it's conveniently sized to fit fully assembled in almost any vehicle, you can remove the one-piece wings for easier storage and transport. Just a few screws and struts that snap into and out of place easily mean you can remove/install the wings in just a few minutes.
