The Chipmunk is an iconic aircraft, first taking to the skies in 1946 as a primary trainer, with over 1,200 built. By the 1960s, legendary aerobatic pilots like Art Scholl and Skip Volk began modifying Chipmunks with larger engines, enhanced control surfaces, and reinforced landing gear, giving birth to the unforgettable Super Chipmunk. Our model is inspired by the stunning IO540-powered N540SC, owned by Mike Morton – a true showstopper in both style and performance.
The Legacy 2M Super Chipmunk combines scale fidelity with extreme aerobatic capability. Its highly modified wing and tail surfaces make it fully 3D capable, performing all maneuvers with precision and grace. While slightly slower than our high-speed “slicks” and Extra models, it remains incredibly gentle, with oversized flaps for super-slow flight and extraordinary STOL performance.
Built with the pilot in mind, the Chipmunk features extensive pre-fabrication: pre-hinged, gap-sealed surfaces, a quick-build tail system, pre-vented cowling for excellent cooling, and countless time-saving details. Constructed from premium laser-cut balsa and ply reinforced with carbon fiber, it spans a massive 80 inches yet weighs only 9.5 lbs without Lipo – around 11–11.5 lbs with a 6S Lipo (typically 5,000–6,000 mAh). It literally feels like a feather in the air.
The Chippy uses 7 ultra-performance mini servos (THETA989, SAVOX1261, or equivalent), each requiring a lightweight 1.25” EF servo arm. Power comes from the T-Hobby AM670 motor paired with an AM116 ESC and an 18x8 T-Hobby carbon prop, delivering unlimited vertical, smooth punch-outs from hover, moderate top speed, and long, effortless flights.
Add a touch of realism with the 145mm Pilot X2 figure. The model comes with a full-color decal set, a flexible-foam transport cradle, silver foil wing bags with precise cutouts for the landing gear, and a matched, vented Cyclone spinner. Choose from two stunning schemes:
Red/White/Blue: Based on N540SC’s full-scale paint job
Yellow: Inspired by the CAF trainer livery, featuring a pre-applied, clear-coated shark’s mouth
Covering is genuine Ultracote, ensuring durability and a brilliant finish.
Available in ARF form (ready for your electronics) or RXR (electronics pre-installed, requiring only your receiver and Lipo), the RXR can have you flying in about an hour. A minimum 8-channel receiver is recommended to handle all functions.

With an Extreme Flight RxR all of this performance comes preinstalled at at the factory and a couple hours, you can go from box-to-flight! The amazing T-motor AM670 power system is fully-installed and ready to go. Requiring only a throttle calibration, no complicated motor and esc programming is necessary.
Fast and powerful Theta 989 HV servos with Extreme Flight 7075 aluminum arms are installed and ready. All servo extensions are installed. Even the XT-90 battery connector is installed.
